This annual event provides school supplies for 1-3 elementary schools in the city of Canton. Volunteers help to collect supply sponsorships from corporate and community sponsors, shop for needed supplies, assemble backpacks for students, and finally distributing the supplies to students during back to school open house events.
Each year LTCM provides a catered Christmas meal complete with dessert for all of the families who attend the Christmas Celebration. At the end of the night each family is provided with a dozen Christmas cookies to take home and enjoy with their family on Christmas day. To make this happen we attempt to collect over 300 dozen cookies during the month of December. Volunteers for the drive recruit family and friends to donate, and coordinate pick-up/drop-off of cookies to get them to the set-up evening on the Friday before the Christmas celebration. Some volunteers also open up their homes to serve as drop off locations where supporters can bring their cookies in the week leading up to the Celebration.
LTCM’s goal is to make each child feel valued and special- we do that by hand selecting/purchasing gifts for each individual child on our list. We will meet at LTCM’s downtown headquarters at 901 Tuscarawas St. E Canton, Ohio 44707 (First Church of the Resurrection). Volunteers will go “shopping” through current inventory and then go out to purchase any extra toys that are needed.
Join us as we prepare gifts that have been hand selected for each child attending the Christmas Celebration. Wrapping Parties take place at LTCM’s downtown headquarters at 901 Tuscarawas St. E Canton, Ohio 44707 (First Church of the Resurrection). Volunteers may bring their own tape and scissors if desired, wrapping paper will be provided.
Volunteers work together to transform the commons area at McKinley’s Downtown Campus into a Christmas wonderland for children to enjoy. Gifts are transported over to the school and organized for each family. On the night of the party volunteers can also help register families, serve as ushers to help families to their seats, serve food and drinks, help pass out the gifts to families as they come to see Santa and help provide a safe and functional environment for the families attending.
